Lookee what we did!
Inside 12 hours too! My Mum sent us this jigsaw to help with cabin fever. It's nice to remember what Australia looks like at this time of year. There are more greens (foliage) and whites (snow) here, and much less of the reds, oranges and yellows you get in the dry Australian country.
I miss home!

I can relate to your sense of identifying with colours in the landscape. I even found that moving from Sydney to Canberra it took me awhile to appreciate the granite country, and grow to like it, after the many varied hues of the sandstone, and it's different flora. My associations also have to do with my experiences of an area. I still enjoy visiting the Cotswolds, although I'd no longer wish to live there. I'll be interested to know if you find your own mood, and those of others you meet, becomes lighter and more cheerful over the next month or two. I always found the coming of spring in the great lakes area a magic time (also autumn, but particularly spring), and that I and other people seemed much happier. Even though I liked winter for the ice skating, and getting out in the snow, I felt a level of joyous about the emerging flowers and leaves of spring in the USA and UK that I don't have to the same degree in Canberra. But a fair bit of that is because I don't experience the same down feelings in winter here, no cabin fever. But I do miss being able to skate outside, maybe I'll visit the northern hemsphere sometime in winter so I can skate outside again. ER (but not the real one)
